The community is rallying together to support Shayne Knight and Kaitlyn Charbonneau.

The young couple lost everything when a blaze ripped through their Shepherd’s Line home in Dresden on Feb. 15.

They had only been living in the rented house since the beginning of the month and they didn’t have insurance. They were away at the time of the fire, but lost all their clothing and furnishings in the blaze.

The couple are expecting a baby in June as well.

After hearing about the devastating news from one of her clients at Intrigue Hair Lounge in Wallaceburg, stylist Ashley Oughtred deciding she wanted to help.

She started accepted donations at the hair salon, and then decided to organize an event.

“Actually Nick (Cadotte) from Little Caesars approached me after seeing my post,” she said. “We’ve been working together on it.”

the event will be a “Ladies Night” on Saturday, March 1 at the downtown Wallaceburg salon. Anyone who signs ups gets a wash and style, paraffin hand treatment with hand massage, polish change and a 15 min massage, plus complimentary refreshments and appetizers

Cost is $50 or the individual services for $15 each.

All the proceeds are going towards Shayne and Kaitlyn, to help get back on their feet.

“We’re a small community that comes together for people that need help and will continue to support each other,” Oughtred said. “We may be small but together we are strong.”

Spaces are limited for the event, call 519-627-7900 to book your spot.

Other groups are stepping up to help out the young couple as well.

The Wabash Women’s Institute opened a bank account at the Dresden branch of the CIBC bank. Anyone can make a donation to the couple at any CIBC bank by using transit number 7082.

  1. Congratulations, may I make a huge plea that you never put pics on the front page of accidents that people have died in. My brother was killed in an accident, the media took pics before the family was even told of his death. The day we buried him was the day the Courier Press had the pic on the front page. No one appreciated it at all. I think a lot of people will welcome a new paper around the towns. Good luck.
