From the Pastor’s Pen- Â By Brian Horrobin
You are in line at the grocery store with just a few items in your basket, and you’re in a hurry.
The only lane open is the one you’re in, the one with the person who is checking out with a month’s worth of groceries.
But then, in the midst of your deep sighing and angry thoughts about the lack of staff, you hear these 4 powerful words: “Go ahead, you first.”
In a twinkling of an eye your situation just went from fuming frustration to welcome relief. The Bible says that a person should “regard one another as more important than himself.”
Is that something you can do this week?
Waiting in a long line for a teller at the bank? “Go ahead, you first.”
McDonald’s a little busy with lots of hungry customers? “Go ahead, you first.”
Competing for the last close parking spot at Wal-Mart with a senior? “Go ahead, you first.”
You might get downright giddy doing this and seeing the looks in other peoples’ eyes when you simply give them the right of way.
Why not give it a try this week?
You could end up really changing someone’s day for the better.
