‘Cinco de Beero’ will feature beer, beer and more beer

Two Beers

The Chatham-Kent Craft Beer Club and T-Bones Grill House present Cinco de Beero on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 4pm-10pm.

A first of its kind celebration in Chatham-Kent, the event aims to showcase several of Ontario’s craft breweries, while pairing the selections with a customized food menu by T-Bones.

Organizer Chuck Young says Chatham-Kent is ready for this type of event. “I’ve been into craft beers for a few years now and I’ve met quite a few people like me, who are willing to drive as far as Toronto to the various LCBO stores to try the hundreds of Ontario-based microbrews available,” says Young. “After attending a beer festival in a neighbouring community, I realized this was something that could work in Chatham-Kent, where residents are already rallying behind the municipality’s first brewery.”

Cinco de Beero features eight breweries including Chatham-Kent’s own Bayside, as well as Walkerville, Railway City, Wellington, Grand River, Black Oak, Kensington and Double Trouble. Actual beer selections will be announced closer to the event.

“We wanted to pick a day that resonates with the idea of celebrating beer,” says Media Co-ordinator Dave Richie. “There’s too much already going on in the summer, so we thought Cinco de Mayo would be perfect.”

One hundred advanced tickets are being released for the event at $20 each. Admission includes five drink sample tickets, two door prize tickets, a commemorative program and checklist, live music by Chatham’s ‘57 Chevy and playoff hockey on the TVs. Admission at the door is $25.

Tickets can be purchased at T-Bones, Frank’s Music Centre, Wine Kitz, Bayside Brewery or by contacting the Chatham-Kent Beer Club by email (ckcraftbeer@gmail.com) or Facebook.

T-Bones Grill House is located at 953 Charing Cross Rd. in Chatham.
