Covering Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers

Move over groundhogs, robins and red-winged blackbirds, it’s a different kind of animal that is the surest sign of spring for me.

I’m talking about tigers, and more specifically the ones from the Motor City.

The Detroit Tigers kick off the 2014 season tomorrow afternoon (March 31) at Comerica Park and I am proud to say I’ll be there to cover the game.

The Sydenham Current will be on hand for the festivities on the field before the game and inside the press box during.

I’ll be sure to snap as many photos as I can, capture some video, and share it with you all from my iPhone or iPad during and after the game.

Being at the ball park on Opening Day is always an amazing experience. The buzz in the crowd is electric and the people are literally partying in the streets for the day.

As a baseball fan my entire life, it is an honour to be able to “go to work” and cover professional baseball.

I know there are a ton of Detroit Tigers fans in the Wallaceburg, Dresden and surrounding area, so I will make sure we provide a different perspective in terms of coverage throughout the season, as we expect Opening Day will not to be the only game we cover.

Do you have an idea for Tigers related story?

What’s the quickest and best way to get to Comerica? Taking the Walpole Ferry? Sombra Ferry? Where is the best place to park at Comerica? Where locally can you watch the games?

Do you have have a large group of people heading over to a game? Let us know. Send us photos.

I’d love to hear from you all throughout the season!

So watch the sports section of the Sydenham Current for continued coverage of Detroit Tigers baseball.

Here are a few photos I snapped from the past two seasons covering Opening Day in Detroit:
