The Save Our Sydenham committee is endorsing a set of potential candidates for the 2014 Board of Directors for the Tri-Board of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

SOS is supporting Ed Freeburn, Herb John, Kris Lee, George Lung, Sheldon Parsons, Paul Weese and Jeff Wesley as directors and Bill Steep as the community representative for the Sydenham District Hospital Corporation.

Conrad Noel, president of the SOS committee, said the committee decided this is who they want representing the Sydenham Campus for the upcoming year.

The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for June 26, where voting will take place.

Noel said a recent campaign in the community resulted in more than 300 people signing up as members of the Sydenham District Hospital Corporation.

“Last year we only had 64,” he said. “This is fantastic. We just need them all to come out on June 26th to vote.”

Noel said the SOS committee feels it is important to have people from the Wallaceburg, Dresden, and Walpole Island community represented.

“These are some strong people that we are going to be supporting,” he said.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is governed by an Alliance Agreement between three hospital corporations – Public General Hospital Society of Chatham, St. Joseph’s Health Services Association of Chatham, and Sydenham District Hospital. The governance structure is comprised of three individual corporate Boards of Directors representing the founding hospital corporations, functioning as a Tri-Board, to serve the best interests of CKHA and hospital-based healthcare delivery to the Chatham-Kent municipality.
