The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council Wallaceburg Cluster (CKDAC).

Together, they will be creating a space for youth to drop in and hang out! This space will be available once per week and allow youth to get out and socialize with peers in a safe and relaxed environment.

“We’re starting off small with the hope that in the future Wallaceburg, like other surrounding communities will have a space for youth to call their own”, said Cherie DeBurger from the CKDAC Wallaceburg Cluster.

This initiative will be housed at the CKCHC Wallaceburg location, at 808 Dufferin Ave (the old Giant Tiger building).

The Youth Drop-In space will be available Wednesday evenings from 6-9pm for youth ages 12-18 starting, Wednesday May 14th , 2014. During this time youth will have access to computers with internet, and recreational, art and other social skill building activities.

Youth will decide what events will occur every week, with a structured events planned once a month.

Although it will be a youth-driven initiative, staff will be onsite for support and to oversee the evening activities.

They will be looking for volunteers to help with the program as well.
