Directors resign from Sydenham District Hospital Board

sydenham-campusFive of the seven elected directors of the Sydenham District Hospital’s Board of Directors have resigned.

A letter sent to the Sydenham District Hospital Corporate Members stated the resignations include the chair, vice-chair and past chair.

Zoja Holman, spokesperson for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, confirmed that there were some resignations from the board.

“We are in the process of communicating this information,” Holman told the Sydenham Current.

The letter sent to the Sydenham District Hospital Corporate Members states that due to the governance structure for the Tri-Board of Directors of the CKHA, which requires a minimum of four elected directors of each board to be present at Tri-Board meetings to achieve quorum, no meetings can take place.

With that being said the Tri-Board of Directors meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 is being cancelled.

Wallaceburg Counc. Jeff Wesley told the Sydenham Current he is not sure what the reasons for these resignations are.

“SOS has stated and put forth a slate for the AGM in June which did include some current Board members,” Wesley said. “If they want to call the AGM early we have a very competent slate of Directors ready to go. I hope this is not a ploy or a strategy… all we want for SDH is a Board comprised of local SDH catchment area Directors.”

More to come.
