Walking bridge construction schedule set

An “ambitious” schedule has been laid out for the Lou Stonehouse Walkway in Wallaceburg.

Wallaceburg Coun. Jeff Wesley said the goal is to get the work completed as soon as possible, however a lot of capital projects are going forward this year across Chatham-Kent.

“This will, at least, give the people of Wallaceburg an idea on what will happen when,” Wesley said. “Things could go quicker or things could take longer, but, things are happening which is the most important part.”

Wesley said once the design is complete there will be an opportunity for feedback from the community.

“Personally, it is an eyesore and we want it done sooner versus later,” he said. “The companies that offered up products and services will be contacted by C-K once the project gets to the point they need to be involved. WAMBO will have to be worked around so that it is not impacted.”

  1. I cannot understand why this bridge does not have a counter weight to ease lifting and lowering of the bridge. As for the north end, drive steel wall in and fill it in with steel and cement. Why does everything to be done, be made so difficult?
