“During a community emergency, it’s important that people know how to provide for themselves and their families for at least the first 72 hours,” said Alan DeVillaer, Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Management.

“Every year, during Emergency Preparedness Week, we try to make that point to citizens as strongly as we can.”

This year, Chatham-Kent emergency service responders will mark Emergency Preparedness Week with a display at the Home Depot, 8582 Pioneer Line, Chatham, on Saturday, May 10.

The display will start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 1:00 p.m.

Participants will include the Chatham-Kent Fire Department, Chatham-Kent Police Service, Chatham-Kent EMS, Chatham-Kent OPP and the Canadian Red Cross.

Emergency Preparedness Week is a national event coordinated by Public Safety Canada in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments and other partners.
