Latimer enters South Kent election race

M. Clare Latimer is set to run for municipal council in Ward 2, for the upcoming municipal election in October 2014.

Latimer was born and raised in North Harwich, where she currently resides with her husband Paul, raising the last two of six children- twin 16 year old daughters.

A community Occupational Therapist for the past 30 years she has been self-employed since 1995. Having recently retired from school health contract service provision, through CCAC, Latimer continues to provide private mobility assessment services in the long term care facilities and Community Living group homes in Chatham-Kent.

Latimer has always maintained a keen interest in her community. She has volunteered and held past executive positions with the Chatham Boy Scouts, Girl Guides of Canada, and the Chatham-Kent Alzheimer Society. She is currently a board member with the Learning Disabilities Association of Chatham-Kent, the Community Liaison Representative for the UCC Parent Advisory Council and an active member of the Chatham-Kent Trefoil Guild. A life-long member of St. Joseph’s Church, she holds executive positions with the local and regional Catholic Women’s League. In addition she is a cantor, member of the Traditional Choir and a CKHA church visitor.

Latimer would like to see council focus on infrastructure maintenance and sustainability as well as utilize local resources to jump start or grow young or new business, across Chatham-Kent.

Latimer joins incumbents Karen Herman and Frank Vercouteren as the other candidates in Ward 2 – South Kent. The other incumbent Art Stirling, has yet to state his intentions.

Municipal election day is Oct. 27.
