The donations keep pouring in for the Wallaceburg Community Medical Centre.

North Kent Coun. Leon Leclair sported a “corn on the cob hat” at the tail of Monday’s council meeting, as part of a bet to raise an extra $1,000. Leclair had taken part in the fundraising effort for the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team Wallaceburg site expansion, along with Blackburn radio, where $21,000 was raised in total.

Wallaceburg Coun. Jeff Wesley mentioned the work done by the Sydenham Current and 99.1 CKXS in Wallaceburg during two separate “hostage” events as well, where a combined $80,000 was raised.

Wallaceburg Coun. Sheldon Parsons also announced another $20,000 being donated by the Hospital Auxiliary.

The total raised to this point is roughly $120,000 of the $200,000 goal.

The expansion will make room for two new doctors coming to Wallaceburg, and make room for another.
