The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is hosting the Annual General Meeting of the Sydenham District Hospital today, June 26, in Wallaceburg.

The meeting is being held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the UAW Hall, 88 Elm Drive South.

Some reports from the auditor, board, chief executive officer and chief of staff will take place, as well as a keynote address from Gary Switzer, CEO of the Erie-St. Clair LHIN.

Wallaceburg resident Anne Stewart said it is vital for Sydenham District Hospital Corporation members to attend and vote.

“It’s been said, if you don’t use it you’ll lose it,” Stewart said. “This goes for our hospital too. Corporation members, this is your chance to vote in a new Board; and for the general public, please attend to support the SOS (Save our Sydenham) and those fighting for SDH.”

Wallacbeurg Coun. Jeff Wesley reiterated the importance of attending the meeting.

“Our community has been steadfast in their support of local health care and that includes the future of SDH,” he said. “We need to continue to show that support by attending the SDH AGM on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the UAW Hall to listen, learn and vote for a new SDH Board of Directors. It is vital that those members with a right to vote attend and take part. As a candidate for election as a Director on the SDH Board I and other candidates for election, need your support.”

The meeting is open to the public.
