Ian McLarty is going to take another crack at the mayor’s seat in Chatham-Kent.

Reports say the 54-year-old Eberts businessman has picked up his papers and plans to file this week or next.

The Sydenham Current is working on a follow-up interview.

McLarty finished third in the 2010 election, behind current mayor Randy Hope and Wallaceburg lawyer and former Counc. Tom McGregor.

Currently, only Chatham Coun. Marjorie Crew has filed her papers to run for the mayor’s seat.

Hope has stated he will be seeking a third term.

Election day is Oct. 27.
