Chatham-Kent Hospice is pleased to announce the engagement of ROA Studio Inc. to provide Architectural Services for the design of a new 10-bed residential hospice facility.
The hospice will meet the needs of Chatham-Kent and will include associated palliative programs and services.
Chatham-Kent Hospice was delighted by the response to the Architectural Services Request for Proposal it issued in late June. With seven firms from across Southwestern Ontario submitting very well-prepared and fulsome proposals, it was a challenging selection process. The proposals were evaluated based on: firm capabilities and experience; understanding of the hospice project; on-site project support; and bid price.
Jim Laforet, Chair of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Construction Committee said “ROA’s submission met all of our expectations and we are excited to start working with their talented team that has shown a very strong commitment to the hospice”.
Starting in August, ROA will work with Chatham-Kent Hospice on the design of the new facility. ROA will also be responsible for preparing the construction documents, tendering for a general contractor and monitoring the construction process.

The design work is expected to be completed this fall with construction to begin thereafter.
The Chatham-Kent Hospice will be a 10 bed residence that cares for patients and their families and friends who are facing a terminal illness, by providing comfort, support and pain management in a home-like setting.
The Capital Campaign goal is $5 million; $3 million to build the residential facility and $2 million for an Operational Sustainability Fund.
