Magic Show Finishes Summer Reading Program 2014

The Wallaceburg Library brought smiles to the faces of over one hundred children as they gathered for a free magic show to end off the Summer Reading Program for this year. Friday morning from 10:30-11:15 a.m parents joined their children in taking part in the laughter and mysteries behind the magicians wand and black hat. Various children were selected to partake in a variety of tricks as they engaged with everyone in interactive activities.

Wallaceburg Branch employee, Jan Meloche said the Summer Reading Program has been very successful this year. “We always have a big act for the end of the Summer Reading Program to give back to the kids. We’ve had about 275 kids sign up which is a pretty good turnout”.

The Summer Reading Program is open daily to children promoting reading and in return they get a ballot to win prizes. “We have had about 40 different prizes this summer including McDonalds dinner for two, Subway gift certificates and ITunes cards. We do rely on donations on people who come in and use the library”.

Meloche said the turnout yesterday shows that the people of the community do care about participating and supporting the Wallaceburg Branch. “This has went really well. It’s all free supplied through the library. It’s great working with the public and the kids. Any given day we get about 200-250 people daily which I don’t think a lot of people realize”.

The next Summer Reading Program will begin next June 2015.
