Wallaceburg woman faces assault and shoplifting charges

On Thursday the 28th of August 2014 at about 12:30 p.m. Chatham-Kent Police were called to a business on St Clair Street Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint.

The female suspect was confronted by staff and assaulted one of the employees prior to fleeing the store.

The employee did not suffer any injuries.

The suspect was located and arrested by police a short distance from the business and was found to be in possession of property stolen from another business as well.

As a result a 33-year-old woman from Wallaceburg was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and one count of assault.

She was released with a future court date.
