A local company is stepping up to help the Dresden sports field project in a big way.

North Kent Mutual Insurance has pledged to match up to $50,000 in community donations to the Lambton-Kent Community Sports Field project.

“This is the first time we have solicited community members for donations and now they’ll be matched,” said Ian Avery, one of the project coordinators.

A kick-off barbecue and matching event is slated for this Friday (Sept. 19) at NKM’s downtown location from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Avery said the campaign will continue until October 10th.

Charitable receipts will be given on the spot that day.

There is some further incentive for anyone donating as well, as they’ll have the opportunity to catch the Detroit Red Wings at the ACC on Oct. 3rd facing the Toronto Maple Leafs

Avery said they are awarding the top business 6 tickets, the top family 4 tickets and top individual donations two tickets on September 19th only with luxury suite tickets for the game.

The tickets were donated by Bob Sellars, Dundee Securities Ltd.
