C-K Hospice striving towards $5 million

The Chatham-Kent Hospice is in the process of a $5 million capital campaign to build a 10-bed residential hospice into the community.

Jodi Maroney, Director of Development for the Chatham-Kent Hospice, said the dollars raised are being broken into two parts.

“About $3 million is to build the building including the equipment needed for the Hospice. The remaining $2 million is for an Operational Sustainability Fund”.

“We will receive $920,000 annually from the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network once we are open but we know it is going to cost us more than that to operate,” she said. “With our collaboration with St. Andrew’s Residence, we will be able to keep the operating costs as low as possible and minimize that gap. The Operational Sustainability Fund will help us fill that gap for the first few years until we can really get our annual fundraising up and going.”

The Hospice committee is currently in the midst of there “Thanks For Giving” Community Campaign with the goal to raise $250,000 by Thanksgiving, here are the details below:

The Chatham-Kent Hospice is currently in a capital campaign to raise funds to build a 10-bed residential hospice in Chatham-Kent. The Chatham-Kent Hospice will be a 10 bed residence with additional space for bereavement counselling, resource library and meeting rooms with the flexibility to grow and play a role in developing a centre of learning for healthcare providers and the families of Chatham-Kent.
