The Chatham-Kent election is just around the corner – and a couple of events are planned to help get the community up to speed.

In Wallaceburg, there are two events taking place in the community coming up.

The Wallaceburg radio station 99.1 will be hosting two debates on Oct. 16 for the council hopefuls in both Ward 5 Wallaceburg, but also Ward 4 North Kent.

The North Kent debate runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., while the Ward 5 – Wallaceburg debate will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

If anyone has questions for those who are running for council, they can call the radio station at 519-627-0007.

Both events are sponsored by the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce.

For Wallaceburg and mayoral candidates only, a meet and greet will be held at the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre on Oct. 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

People are encouraged to come and meet the candidates during this time.

A debate/candidates meeting is being planned for North Kent. We’ll provide more details when they become available.

A couple of “all mayoral candidates” debates will also be held in Chatham.

One will be held Thursday, October 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. inside the council chambers at the Civic Centre.

Another LIVE debate will be held by the CKSY radio station (94.3) in Chatham. It will air from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Election day is Oct. 27.
