Chatham-Kent has landed on a Globe and Mail list as one of the top retirement hot spots across Canada.

The Canadian newspaper utilized comments from their readers to choose the list, which also includes: Osoyoos, British Columbia; Gimli, Maintoba; Port Stanley, Ontario; Creston, British Columbia; and Rothesay, New Brunswick.

The Globe article looks at the “baby boomers” – people born between 1945 and 1964 – and what they are doing now that they are entering retirement.

The article says the “unrelenting upward pressure on home prices, especially in Canada’s largest urban centres,” works in the favour of the baby boomers.

The article describes Chatham-Kent as a “vibrant, verdant municipality in the heart of southwestern Ontario” with “agricultural abundance” and “rich historical heritage.”

The article notes C-K’s low housing prices, sandy beaches, plentiful recreational activities and the short driving distance to the London or Detroit airports.

The article is an introduction and is set to be followed by longer articles by contributing writers who interviewed baby boomers who have already moved to the locations named in the article.
