Grow-op busted near Tilbury

On the 23rd of April 2015 members of the Ontario Provincial Police Essex County OPP Street Crimes Team and the West Region Emergency Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a rural farm property located in the 21000 block of County Road 46 within the Town of Lakeshore.

As a result of this action police have seized a quantity of harvested cannabis marihuana, a large number of cannabis marihuana plants in various stages of growth; several items of suspected stolen property; as well as numerous items of property associated to the indoor growing of cannabis marihuana.

The street value of the marihuana, marihuana plants and property seized is estimated as being between $60,000 – $75,000.

The 49 year old occupant of the involved residence has been charged with Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 7(1) and 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

A 43 year old Chatham man found on the property has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances
