Mitchell’s Bay gearing up for car show

mitchells bay car show

The Mitchell’s Bay Area Association is asking people to mark July 18 in their calendars.

This is when the communities 4th annual car, truck, motorcycle and tractor show will be taking place.

“It’s an afternoon for families to get together. We are going to have bouncy castles, face painting and a bunch of vendors and a food concession,” said Karen Miles, a member of the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Miles said there will be prizes for the four categories of vehicles.

“We have a large trophy display at Bob and Buoys. Each year the top winners of the four categories get their picture on the trophy. Something like the Stanley Cup. Each year we put a plaque of the winners but for that particular year is when the picture of their vehicle goes on the trophy.”

Miles said the first 100 participants to register get a dash plaque and a goodie bag.

There are door prizes for the participants as well.

“We have the test drive event taking place with Progressive Ford from Wallaceburg. We are partnering with Christ the King Catholic School in Wallaceburg for this. Ford will donate $20 for each person that test drives.”

There will be plenty to do at the event, Miles said.

“There was a tool place that set up last year selling tools, wood signs, scented candles, Tupperware, different things like that. We have a penny sale table. If they come out there is the walking trail they can go on, they can go to the beach. We have two great restaurants. Everybody in the community sponsors and helps and this helps the businesses around here getting people out to participate in the car show.”

Miles said the proceeds from the event, stays in the Mitchell’s Bay community.

“It goes towards the trails and just recently we got some purple martin bird houses. We have helped getting the play ground equipment with Chatham-Kent. We put a brand new sign in Mitchell’s Bay. Picnic tables at the beach. We are looking to help people get out in the outdoors.”

“We hope we have great weather and have a lot of people coming out,” Miles added.

The group is looking for vehicles, pre-1995 for their event.

Cost is $10 to register.
