Water meeting confirmed in Wallaceburg

The last community meeting to discuss the future of Wallaceburg’s drinking water will take place on Tuesday, June 9.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg and the presentation starts at 7 p.m.

The date was pushed ahead by one day, compared to when we reported on the meeting earlier this month.

“This is the final water supply meeting in Wallaceburg,” said Wallaceburg Coun. Jeff Wesley. “Please attend and make your views known and get your questions answered. It is important that you do so.”

Stantec Consulting was hired by the Chatham-Kent PUC to conduct an environmental assessment.

After presenting in detail a series of options at a meeting on November 26, which included rehabilitating the current Wallaceburg Water Treatment Plant, Stantec’s “preferred alternative” was connecting to the Chatham water supply, which gets its water from Lake Erie.
