A man is lucky to be alive, after a train clipped the lawn mower he was driving earlier this morning.
Police say around 10:30 a.m. this morning, emergency personnel responded to a collision west of Kent Bridge Road on Doherty Street.
A VIA Rail train was traveling eastbound when it clipped a John Deere lawnmower.
The 83-year-old man was wearing ear protection while cutting grass and did not hear the train coming.
Luckily he was not injured.
Damage to the lawnmower has been estimated at $1,500.
A new crew was brought aboard to continue with the train’s scheduled route.
Police have concluded their investigation and no charges will be laid.
