Two fixtures – the midway and the fireworks – will continue to be a highlights this year at the 40th annual Thamesville Threshing Festival.
The fireworks display takes place on Saturday, July 4t at 10:15pm.
“About 10 p.m., we read off all of the sponsorships for Threshing Fest,” said Kristy Metcalfe, advertising chair with the event. “It sort of kicks off the fireworks display. Basically a big thank you to all of those community organizations and businesses that help fund the Threshing Festival year after year. Most of that is firework donations as well.”
Kristy said the the fireworks display kicks off with the singing of the National Anthem.
“Generally speaking they are one of the most amazing small town fireworks display I have ever seen. This year we have ordered some additional fireworks so we are hoping its a little bit bigger than normal to celebrate the 40th Anniversary.”
The midway gets underway and the vendor show at 6:30 p.m so it actually starts at the same time as the parade on Friday July 3 and closes at 11 p.m., Kristy said.
“The Friday night, July 3rd, hours are from 6:30 p.m. to11 p.m. They do have a pay once price (bracelet or stamp ) for Friday only for $20. That is quite reasonable for families that find themselves paying a lot, ride after ride. So for $20 the children can ride all night.”
Kristy said on Saturday, July 4, the midway opens at 11 a.m. It closes again at 11 p.m.
“On Saturday during the daytime they do have a pay one price as well for $20 which is valid from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have a Saturday night teen madness special where you can pay a special price of $15 and that is valid from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.”
