There are a host of options for people in the community who become members of the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre.

Pete Hensel, the President of the board, said to be a member of the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre you have to be at least 45 years of age. Membership is $30 and is due January 1.

“The membership gives you access to the building and allows you to take part in the various programs that we offer. You get a discounted rate” and some of that is subsidized, through the province or the Municipality.

“When we have a bus trip for instance we subsidize $20. For classes we charge a flat $2 and the rest of the cost for putting on the program is picked up by this grant money essentially,” Hensel said.

Members can take part in any of the programs that they have.

“There is exercising equipment that you have access to. Card games are played with a $2 donation to play and then it’s returned as prize money to the winners. There is Wii Bowling, golf at Country View Golf Course on Thursday mornings with the Wally Wackers, crafts, painting and more. At the end of the year they have a closing banquet,” Hensel said.

The programs vary from card games to exercises classes.

“The exercise equipment that we have in our exercise room can be as demanding as you would like. We do not have an actual instructor for the machines but we do have for most of the other exercise classes,” he said.

“Visitors are welcome to take part in activities as well.” Cost for classes is $2 for members and $5 for non- members excluding Yoga which is $10 for non- members.

The Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre is located at 205 James St. in Wallaceburg. Give them a call at 519-627-6224 or give them a ‘Like’ on Facebook.
