Hospice campaign hits the halfway mark

week 15 Construction Update - Wellington Street

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Hope Chest Campaign has reached the halfway mark of its $200,000 goal as the construction project reaches its hallway milestone. The funds raised through the Hope Chest Campaign will be used to offset the cost of necessary furniture and equipment needed in the residential hospice which is expected to open in late 2015.

Through an electronic shopping mall on the Chatham-Kent Hospice website (www.chathamkenthospice.com) donors can direct their donation towards a number of items at a variety of price points.

“We wanted to provide a very practical way for people to show their support while the hospice is under construction,” said Jodi Maroney, director of development. “All the items on the website are specifically chosen for end-of-life care and will help us make the hospice a home.”

Construction has begun on the 10 bed residential hospice that cares for patients and their families and friends who are dealing with a terminal illness, providing comfort, support and pain management in a home-like setting.

Building should be completed by the end of 2015.

While the new residential hospice is being built, fundraising efforts are focusing on raising money to purchase the necessary furniture and equipment needed through the Hospice Hope Chest Campaign.
