The annual Knights of Columbus chicken dinner is a go this year at WAMBO 27.

Barry McFadden, a 25-year K of C member and one of the dinner organizers, says despite some issues last year with the Health Unit shutting down the event, the group has adjusted and is continuing on with their tradition.

“The Knights of Columbus are going to put on a Broasted Chicken Dinner. It is this Friday night. We start serving at 4:30 p.m. until sold out,” McFadden said.

The K of C has teamed up with the Car Barn in Wheatley to provide the chicken this year.

“They are providing all the chicken and potatoes. The Car Barn is known for having really good chicken. They have had their chicken at the K of C’s in Lambton, Dresden and I believe they were at the Wallaceburg Legion a couple weeks ago,” he said.

The price is $15 per person.

“There will be broasted chicken, a baked potato, corn on the cob, tomatoes, cucumbers and coleslaw. There will be cold refreshments as well. Pop and water,” McFadden said.

The K of C are hoping to go through 600 dinners.

“If there are more than 600 people who want chicken we will have to deal with that as it comes along. That’s why we have advanced tickets available now for the dinners. We have to guarantee them so many dinners. They said they could handle up to 600-650 in the time frame we gave them,” McFadden said.

To get tickets in advance you can get them from any Knights of Columbus members or you can call the K of C hall at 519-627-4149 and they will get back to you for where you can pick up tickets.

People can also call 519-627-1044 ir 519-627-2695 for tickets as well.

McFadden said some of the tickets say between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. but they are starting at 4:30pm and it could go until 8 p.m. or until we are sold out.

“There will also be entertainment at the front corner as usual,” he said.
