Durston and Six Nations won the Ontario Jr. ‘A’ Lacrosse League championship, beating the Peterborough Lakers 8-3 in Game 5 of the series on Wednesday night.

Durston netted four goals to lead the Arrows to the win.

“Ontario champ, cant wait to get after the Minto in front (of) friends and fam!” Durston wrote on social media following the win.

This is the second straight provincial title for Durston and the Arrows, who will now look to repeat as Minto Cup national champions as well.

Durston was solid in the provincial championship round, collecting 15 points in the final three games of the series. Overall, Durston was fifth in playoff scoring with 47 points (19 goals, 28 assists) in 13 games.

Many Wallaceburg residents made the trip to Hagersville to see Durston and Six Nations play on Wednesday, including member of Durston’s family.

“Can’t say enough about all the Wallaceburg people up in Six Nations tonight cheering on Jordan Durston and the Six Nations Arrows,” wrote Wallaceburg’s Jamie Knight on Facebook. “This town has always been great at supporting our local athletes but I know that Jordan truly appreciates it and he always plays better when (we’re) there.”

Knight added: “Even better than the pic with the trophy is him and his bro sharing this moment. Certainly makes me one proud uncle.”

The Minto Cup is scheduled to start on Aug. 21 in Six Nations.
