The Wallaceburg splash pad committee wants to get the community accustomed to having lots of fun at Colwell Park.

The newly formed group is holding a free family movie night at the Running Creek Drive park, where the future Wallaceburg splash pad will be located.

The movie, Disney’s Finding Nemo, will be aired on Friday, Sept. 4.

People are being encouraged to setup their chairs at 7 p.m. and the movie will start at dusk.

The Wallaceburg group has been moving full steam ahead this month after Wallaceburg Coun. Carmen McGregor entered a successful motion at the Aug. 10 council meeting to establish the committee and allow fundraising efforts to begin.

Council agreed to have the splash pad constructed at Colwell Park on Running Creek Drive, the site of the former Colwell Pool. Council voted unanimously in favour of the project.

Chris Young, who is spearheading the project and leading the committee, said they are eyeing next July to have the splash pad opened.
