The flags at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre, including the Tricolour flag of France, are being flown at half mast to mark the tragic events that took place in Paris on Friday.

Wallaceburg Coun. Carmen McGregor said she is happy to see Chatham-Kent pay their respects in this fashion.

“I am proud to see that our Municipality has chosen to fly the French flag at half mast to show respect for those who lost their lives,” she said. “It is also just as important to support the many injured and those who face the terror created by the atrocities that occurred in Paris on Friday.”

McGregor added: “Unfortunately there is not any quick or easy solution to end terrorism the world over, therefore, it becomes even more important that we find ways to stand together and support each other regardless of our beliefs or nationality.”

At least 120 people were killed during the series of attacks.

Six locations were attacked, including a soccer stadium where France was playing Germany, and a concert venue where American-based band Eagles of Death Metal were performing.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
