Chef Angie Moore is inviting people to Gatsby’s Grill House on Thursday to have a festive drink during the Downtown Wallaceburg Holiday Open House… and to also say goodbye.

Angie told the Sydenham Current she has sold her downtown Wallaceburg business, and will be closing the restaurant next month.

“The business has sold,” she said. “Jay Trampleasure has purchased it. It will be changing names effective… January 1, 2016 .”

Angie said the business will be called the River’s Edge Grill House and Bar.

“Pub type food,” Angie said. “Pool tables, lots of TV’s and pub grub. He is going to keep the fish and chips and the bigger sellers. I am going to teach him the ropes on how to cook. The favourites from Gatsby’s are going to be carried over to the River’s Edge. He is looking at bringing in the Bootleggers that were at Syd Rivers, which were a huge seller.”

Angie said her last day will be the December 23.

“He takes possession on the 1st of January so within the first couple of weeks in January it should be open hopefully.”

She said her catering company is still intact.

“The catering company does not leave,” she said, adding that she can still be reached at 519-437-8935 or by email at chefangie@cogeco.ca for any catering inquiries.

On a full-time basis, Angie said she is taking a position in Blenheim.

“I will be running Willow Ridge Golf & Country Club Ltd. in Blenheim as their food and beverage manager,” she said. “It used to be the Blenheim Community Golf Club. Fred Naclerio and Darrell Clarke are very prominent businessmen in the Blenheim area and they purchased it. So it is a private sale/private club but it is open to the public.”

Angie said this Thursday (Nov. 19) for the BIA open house, it will be a sort of a going away party.

“There will be specials and I’m hoping to see people come in and celebrate.” she said. “A big thanks to the community for supporting us for as long as you did.”

Angie added: “There will be specialty drinks. Come and have a drinks with us and enjoy a festive special. Turkey, cranberry salsa and brie flatbread on for a special price. We will have the hot chocolate candy cane martinis on.”

The Wallaceburg BIA is hosting their annual downtown Wallaceburg Holiday Open House on Thursday, November 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Many downtown merchants will be offering specials, in-store promotions, samples and much more.
