Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad is set to be busy in the pool the next couple of months, including competing in an Olympic time trial event.

The 15-year-old Grade 10 student at UCC is attending the Speedo Eastern championships in Montreal from February 18 to 21, then she’ll swimming in Orlando, Florida at the Grand Prix from March 3 to 5, and finally she’ll be heading to the Olympic time trials in Scarborough in April.

Broad, who swims for the Chatham Y Pool Sharks, has already posted Olympic trial times in the 100 back and the 200 back.

While in Montreal, she is striving for two more qualifying times in the 100 fly and the 50 free.

Broad will be one of the youngest swimmers in the pool at the event in Scarborough, which will include past Olympic swimmers.

There are no age groups, and she will be competing against the best of the best.

In order to help her offset some travel cost for all of the events, a quarter auction will be held on Tuesday, February 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the CBD Club in Wallaceburg.

Join the event on Facebook for more details.
