Wallaceburg business launches ‘Project Prom’

A Wallaceburg business is collecting old dresses, shoes and suits to ensure every youth in the community is all set for prom.

Nortina Bell, owner of The Nail Place and Esthetics in downtown Wallaceburg, said all the details are still being worked out, but they are moving forward with “Project Prom.”

“It is for boys and girls,” she said. “It is just to make sure that everybody has got something.”

Bell said they are working on scheduling a “try on” day for next month at The Nail Place, and they are working on getting some local hair stylists and staff to come in and donate some time to do hair and nails on the day of prom.

“People need to sign up in advance,” she said.

“So we would like to know whether its for graduation or prom. We would like to know their size to make sure that we have dresses available. There are dresses and suits being donated, shoes and some accessories but that’s not guaranteed… but we at least want to have dresses. We are hoping to get them dresses and shoes at the bare minimum.”

Bell said dresses and suits can be dropped off anytime at The Nail Place.

“We are also taking information for young people that need the dresses,” she said.

“They can call, email or Facebook. We just basically need to know their dress size, shoe size so that we can make sure because if we don’t have dresses, we will make sure that we get some.”

If you are interested stop by the shop at 368 James Street in Wallaceburg, call them at 519-627-NAIL(6245), send them a message on Facebook, or e-mail them at staff@nailplace.ca.

Wallaceburg’s prom event is scheduled for Friday, June 10 at the Dresden Arena Banquet Hall.
