Dresden Hockey Hall of Famer dies

A long-time supporter of hockey in Dresden has died.

Chatham resident John ‘Lynn’ Martin died peacefully at the London Health Science Centre University Campus in London on Monday.

He was 78.

Lynn was an active participant in the Dresden Minor Association and Junior Hockey Association for over 50 Years.

He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2005 and presented with the lifetime achievement award for the Dresden Junior Kings in 2013.

Lynn was retired from Nestle Canada after 30 years and farmed part time in Chatham Township.

He also volunteered for the Kidney Foundation and Outreach for Hunger.

His visitations will take place at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home at 156 William St. in Chatham from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 24.

A memorial service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 25, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Linda McFadden officiating.
