The Wallaceburg Lakers continue to make an off-season splash, with the announcement of two player signings.

With the hope of improving their blue line, the Lakers signed 6′ 8″ defenceman Colton Coates.

The 20-year-old Belle River native comes to Wallaceburg after splitting last season with the Butte Cobras of the WSHL Junior A League and the Kalkaska Rihnos of the USPHL Junior ‘A’ hockey league.

“Colton is a tough steady defenceman who plays with an edge,” Lakers officials stated.

“He caries excellent leadership qualities and will be leaned on to guide our younger players into Junior hockey. Colton had 3 goals and 8 assists last season while collecting 106 minutes in penalties.”

The Lakers also added some offensive punch with the signing of 6’2″ 215 lbs. power forward, Brayden Kettlewell.

The 20-year-old Brantford native last played ‘AAA’ for the Brantford 99er’s Midget Majors where he produced nearly a point per game.

“Brayden is a big strong body who is expected to be a big force in the offensive zone,” Lakers officials stated.
