A man is facing multiple charges after attempting to scam some elderly residents in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent police say between the dates of June 7 and June 23 this year a 33-year-old Chatham man attended the homes of elderly residents aging 69 years to 91 years.

The man would make claims of repairing different objects around the resident’s homes and demand payment or offer future services in exchange for payment.

The man would also request to enter his victim’s homes for the purpose of providing his ‘credentials’. This would then be followed up by excusing himself away from the victim while he stole cash from the home.

Seven occurrences have been reported to police in which a total of $680 was paid to and stolen by this man.

The man is known to police and has a history of fraud based offences targeting elderly and vulnerable persons.

The man appeared before a video bail court and has been remanded into police custody pending another court date.
