Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith of the Boston Bruins was hounded with some hard hitting questions in his hometown on Thursday afternoon.
Griffith provided answers with poise, sharing that he enjoys to eat pasta and chicken on game days, his favourite NHLer is Claude Giroux, his favourite Detroit Tiger is Miguel Cabrera, he started skating when he was eight months old, and while he doesn’t play a lot of video games, he has played Mario Kart.
The 23-year-old was the guest at The Family Centre Holy Family site in Wallaceburg, where he not only answered the kids questions, but also played pool noodle hockey with the children and signed autographs on jerseys, hockey sticks, mini sticks, t-shirts, iPad cases, water bottles and ball caps.
“It’s fun,” Griffith told the Sydenham Current.
“Every time you can do something like this, it’s great for me. I love doing it. I know when I went to events like this… hockey camps and stuff like that, seeing the pro’s come out and do stuff it really means a lot. Just to do it for half hour or an hour, hopefully it is something they will remember.”
Sherry Alves, an early childhood educator and the supervisor at the Holy Family site, said it was a special day for the kids.
“This is what they do all summer, some of them are here from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day,” she said.
“This is their vacation. So it means a lot for people of our community to come out, visit them, share their experiences and to be able to sign items for them. It is a good experience for them to meet someone that is out in the world and they get to hear about their experiences.”
Alves added: “They loved playing pool noodle hockey and I think Seth enjoyed it a little bit too. It’s very hot, we’re working up a sweat, but it was great. The kids enjoyed it.”
