Lip sync battle coming to Wallaceburg Museum

Following along with the popular segment on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, the Wallaceburg and District Museum is set host their own lip sync battle.

The idea came from me originally as a way to fundraise for the Wallaceburg Museum and also get more buzz around our theatre group, The Glasstown Players,” said Heather Bennett, who is helping organize the August 20 event.

“It is a lip sync battle which means contestants choose at least two songs ahead of time to perform. There will be two rounds and at the end of each round we will ask the audience to rate each act in different categories on a scale of one to five and the numbers will be totalled. Whichever act has the highest rating from round one and round two will go head to head in our final battle round performing a song that will be chosen at random.”

Bennett added: “After the battle has finished we invite everyone to stay for a night of dancing and refreshments provided by the Black Goose.”

The event starts at 7 p.m. and will be hosted by Bennett and Sandy O’Neil.

Bennett said they have music for afterwards, but are still in search of a DJ and equipment to help the night go more smoothly.

“This event is all ages but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult,” she said.

They are accepting acts to preform up until August 5, as they are starting rehearsal times on August 9.

“This is a free event but we are always accepting donations,” Bennett said.

“We are also looking for is donations from local businesses to help us with our prize for the winners. In return we are offering free advertising on our final poster, on our evening programs, and at the event itself.”
