Corunna’s Olympic gold medal winner from the 2016 Rio games is st to visit his hometown on Saturday.

Derek Drouin, who captured gold in the men’s high jump competition, will be welcomed home with a parade and community gathering in his honour.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Thompson Gardens (198 Beckwith Street in Corunna) before heading down Lyndoch Street to Antonio’s Pizza (443 Lyndoch Street, Corunna.)

This is where presentations and meet and greets with Drouin will take place and run until approximately 3 p.m.

Reports say commemorative stickers are set to be printed and handed out during the parade and festivities as well.

Similar events were held in 2013, when Drouin won Olympic bronze in London.
