RCMP Musical Ride packs Dresden Raceway – Video, Photos

Dresden Raceway was filled to capacity on Wednesday evening, as the RCMP Musical Ride came to town.

Thousands of people filled the grandstand for the event, which was organized by the Dresden Agricultural Society and Racing Against Drugs.

“Thank you to everyone who came out tonight for the RCMP Musical ride… the place was packed,” the Ag Society posted on social media.

The performance drew praise from the community as well:

“Amazing to watch and three out of four of the riders we had spoke with had never ridden a horse before and one had trail rode twice for fun,” said Lori Hooper-Lefler on Facebook. “They go through a very vigorous training period in a very short period of time. Much admiration for these men and women.”

“Dresden was bursting at the seems tonight,” said Kerry Martin on Facebook. “What a beautiful performance by the RCMP Musical Ride. So proud to be a Canadian.”

The RCMP Musical Ride is performed by a full troop of 32 riders and their horses. Their performance consists of intricate figures and drills choreographed to music.

The Musical Ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada between the months of May and October.

They help raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit organizations.
