Interested in continuing your education through online courses? Well, Contact North in Wallaceburg can help make this process go smoothly.

“Contact North is a huge resource to this community,” said Melody Newby, online learning recruitment officer in Wallaceburg.

“We support people in navigating the many opportunities in online learning without leaving their community. Potential students can come into the centre and discuss their educational goals with me. I do all the research that is required. If they are interested in an online college program, office administration for example, I will research all the colleges that offer it, the cost and anything else that they may need to know.”

The cost of the services at Contact North in Wallaceburg is absolutely free.

“Our services are totally free of cost,” Newby said.

“The only cost is if the student is taking a college course and there is a tuition fee attached to that.”

Newby added: “I also help in navigating OSAP and financial aid as well. We provide a space for students to take their online courses if they so desire. It’s a great place to come and it is quiet. We have 10 computers, all with high speed Internet and of course staff to help them if there is a problem.”

Contact North is located at 1416 Dufferin Ave., right beside the Goodwill donation centre in Wallaceburg.

If anyone wants to utilize the services, they can just stop by.

“We always welcome people to or they can call me at 1-855-353-5949 or they could even email wallaceburg@contactnorth.ca.”

There are programs that can start at any time.

“There are always free online courses that people can take,” Newby said.

“They are great if you are trying to explore a new career or something you are thinking about studying for school. You can sign up for a free course and explore that and see if that’s right for you. A great resource we have that everybody can use is our website. It’s www.studyonline.ca. People can go there, type in a key word and all of the online courses or programs associated with that key word will come up. So they can see what is available to them.”

Newby added that they are in the community to help.

“We are here to help people get their diploma or degree online,” she said.

“The centre is here to help them achieve that.”
