Fall is here and the ‘s’ word in looming

It’s that time again… darn-it!

All the signs are there.

First, the soybean fields are turning yellow… soon to be brown.

Leaves on some trees no longer green.

Shorter days, longer nights, cooler nights.

My giant hibiscus is finished blooming.

My garden is winding down.

Yuk, yuk, yuk!

Yes, it’s fall, and after a super summer. Just let one more person mention heat and humidity, and I’ll scream… and then send them a photo of my car, in my driveway, up to the axles in snow! I hate even typing that “s” word.

I grew up in Ottawa – now, that was snow country! I skated on the canal, played outdoor hockey every winter, cross-country skis and downhill skis were a huge part of my life. Tobogganing, snow forts… well, you get the picture.

Now? Keep that white crap away from me!

When the winter gets really bad, I’ll be heading south. Doesn’t matter where, as long as I can snorkel, swim, walk the beach… and enjoy meals outdoors every single day!

I love any place where there are palm trees, coral reefs, and incredibly fresh seafood.

Time to start planning, methinks.

It’s like the Beachboys said – “Aruba, Jamaica, ooo I wanna take you to Bermuda, Bahama….lol.

If I could afford to winter down south, I’d be off like a shot!
