Stolen vehicle crashes, suspect flees

Police are looking for a suspect, after a crash a stolen vehicle crashed in Chatham on Friday.

Chatham-Kent police officials say on Friday afternoon officers observed a stolen vehicle in a parking lot on Keil Drive south in Chatham.

The male driver of the stolen vehicle noticed Police and fled the area south bound on Keil Drive at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to turn west bound on Richmond street at a high rate of speed and collided with an east bound SUV.

The stolen vehicle fled the scene of the collision west bound on Richmond street before the driver abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot.

A ground search for the driver was initiated by Police with K9 services however police were unsuccessful in locating the male driver.

The driver and two passengers of the SUV involved in the motor vehicle collision sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as precaution.

Police have been able to identify the male driver of the stolen vehicle and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
