Cat conspiracy in Wallaceburg, heavy rain expected, world news

It appears we have a conspiracy on our hands here in Wallaceburg… and it involves cats.

Last summer, after our dear feline friend Tipsy Doodles passed away, we were fortunate to come across a friendly orange and white cat who was hanging around in Wallaceburg by our sisters house.

Mookie sleeping soundly.
Mookie sleeping soundly.

After a few weeks without Tipsy, we decided go pick up the new kitty and bring him home. Mookie, who we named after Pearl Jam’s original band name, was an instant member of our family. He immediately got along with our pup Millie, the kid’s loved him and besides a couple of times when he decided to use furniture as his litter box, Dana and I were glad to have him in our home.

Fast forward to this week.

Mookie will often spend all day sleeping in Millie’s pen in the kitchen, while he spends the nights outside, “protecting us” from his perch on our back porch.

Yesterday, while Dana was driving home, she spotted who she believed to be Mookie prowling around in hunting mode several blocks and a considerable distance away from our house.

Same orange and white fur, same long striped tail, same green eyes and even the same small belly hanging and jiggling as he walked.

She got out and called out his name.

He kept walking, after giving her a “what do you want?” kind of look.

Dana came home and immediately asked, “is the cat in house?”

Yes, there was Mookie curled up in Millie’s pen, sound asleep.

Dana and I looked at each other and immediately went into conspiracy theorist mode.

Could we actually be taking care of two cats?

Maybe Mookie and his identical twin are taking shifts staying in our house, doubling up our cat food bill, increasing our protection detail outside and meeting up in discreet places, so they are never seen together.

It sounds legitimate to me.

As long as they keep a good handle on the mice population around our house and take care of the few stragglers that make their way inside… I’m totally fine with having our two conspiring cats.
