Investigators say no foul play is suspected after a fatal blaze on Tuesday in Wallaceburg.

“With the assistance of the Coroner’s Office and Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, there is no evidence at this time to lead police to believe the fire is suspicious or foul play was involved,” Const. Renee Cowell said in a press release.

Just before 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, emergency crews responded to a residential fire on Nelson Street where one person was found deceased in the apartment.

Police say a postmortem examination was conducted this week at the London Health Sciences Center.

The name of the deceased will not be released as per the family’s request.
