Members of the Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the eastbound lanes of the 402 Highway just east of Wonderland Road around 7:30 a.m. today to a reported collision.

Investigation revealed that a transport truck carrying ethanol and diesel fuel was traveling eastbound when it left the road and rolled over in the centre median.

The lone male occupant of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

OPP officials have identified the male party killed in the crash as 28-year-old Jagjit Singh Deol from Brampton, Ontario.

Due the collision, both fuel tanks on the transport were ruptured requiring the specialized response from the City of London Fire Department hazardous good team to secure the loads.

OPP and response crews on scene estimate an extended closure of both the east and westbound 402 and are asking motorists to plan alternate routes.

Access to the 402 WB can be gained from Wonderland Road.

The 402 EB is exiting on to Colonel Talbot Rd where motorists can access the 401 highway.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators are on scene and would like to speak with anyone who may have observed the truck prior to the collision.

Police can be contacted at 1-888-310-1122 or should you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

  1. I must say although it’s a bad ending for this poor guy I wonder if he had worn his seat belt, or maybe not been on his cell phone?????

Long weekend excursion this weekend and had to drive on 401.402 and 407…….to pass the time as I was the passenger and I hate 4oo series highways, I counted transports and looked in every driver seat to see if driver was on their cell phone.Well not to my surprise we passed approximately 49 transports give or take a few,and out of those there where 42 on their cell phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that I was trying to be specific but 40 of them where of East Indian or not originally from this country, and it made me wonder when they take the driving test to get their license do they not tell them it’s illegal to drive while on your cell phone?????????? Only one driver was talking through bluetooth, I could tell because he had both hands on the wheel and was laughing up a storm and he was alone in the truck.(well i hope he was talking to someone) lol
I just would like to know if anything is being done about truck drivers talking on their cell phones, they have alot more to worry about than a little 4 wheeler so maybe they should put down the cell phone and pay attention to other drivers and where their side of the road is.!!!!
