The Municipality of Chatham-Kent recognized Poverty Awareness Week Monday with a flag-raising at the Civic Centre this week.
More than 20 people turned out for the event in which Kate duForno of the Prosperity Roundtable initiative spoke about the effects of poverty in the community.
Mayor Randy Hope praised the efforts of the many groups in Chatham-Ken involved in poverty reduction.
