In September of 2014, Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS) purchased a 19-unit townhouse complex located at 770 Wallace Street, Wallaceburg, Ontario from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. These fully inclusive two, three and four-bedroom townhouses are now available to rent.
Each unit has been completely renovated, the property grounds freshly landscaped and the parking lot fully resurfaced with the help of many local contractors.
In addition to renovating the units, OAHS have brought the playground back to life and enhanced tenant security by installing 24-hour video surveillance around the entire complex.
OAHS officials said they are thrilled to invite tenants, their friends and their families to their safe, family-friendly community.
“OAHS looks to repair existing units where possible as the need for housing has already been identified in the community and the structure already exits,” stated Don McBain, executive director.
“Restoring these units allows for new, safe and affordable housing opportunities in an existing community, with units tailored to the specific size and needs of the families.”

For those currently renting an affordable unit from OAHS or another Social Housing provider and interested in homeownership, priority consideration is given for funding through the OAHS Assisted Home Ownership Program.
For those that already own a home and are interested in repair opportunities, they may qualify for the OAHS Home Repair program.
