Body of missing person found in Grand Bend

The OPP are investigating after a body was found in a boating canal in Grand Bend.

On Tuesday October 25th, 2016 at around 3:00 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a residence in Grand Bend, Ontario regarding a missing person.

OPP attended the location and was informed that a male party had gone missing from the residence and it was believed that the party may have left in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up.

Investigation led police to search an area of the boating canal around Government Road, Grand Bend and at just after 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday October 25th, police observed what appeared to be a portion of the pickup truck in the boating canal. The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were requested and attended to assist in the investigation.

Upon conclusion, the missing pickup and missing male party were located in the boating canal, just off Government Road, Grand Bend. The male party was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as a 75 year male from Grand Bend, Ontario.

Foul play is not suspected.

Name of the deceased has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
